NOTE: Dr. Bozard is not currently accepting new clients at the Columbia location due to a full case load.
Welcome! I specialize in working with Men, Young Adults, and LGBTQ individuals, couples, and issues for counseling or life/career coaching. Anxiety, depression, identity, coming out, self-esteem, spirituality, sex, career, social pressures, and relationships are concerns I often address. These issues typically respond well to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is my primary counseling approach. In my work as therapist, coach, and formerly as professor, I've done extensive counseling, research, and publication about LGBTQ issues, especially with gay/bi males. I am fully affirming of LGBTQ people, identities, and expressions.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with specialized training and experience in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) at the Beck Institute, Gottman Couples Therapy, LGBTQ Safe Zone, Pastoral Counseling at Duke University, and Exercise & Sport Psychology. I see adults, college students, and adolescents (Age 15 and over) for individual psychotherapy, couples counseling, and life/career coaching. My offices are located in Charlotte (SouthPark) and Columbia (Downtown/USC) with free, easy parking at both locations.
My approach is empathetic, nonjudgmental, reality-focused, and primarily talk-based. I emphasize client strengths from a positive, wellness perspective. As a Ph.D.-level practitioner, I bring an additional four years of rigorous study, research, and supervision in the nationally recognized counseling program of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I have additional professional experience as a professor of counseling & college student affairs, and in pastoral ministry, with a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University.
I take pride in offering my clients a quality therapeutic relationship with personal service. The longer I work with you, the better I understand your unique self—and the more effective I can be in helping you reach your goals. Yes, quality counseling and coaching can be a financial investment. It's an investment I made in myself as a client years ago and I can attest to the value of that experience. I hope you'll value yourself enough to Invest in You—whether in my practice or another.
Send me a message and let me know how I might help.
